The Associate Medical Director of Addictions Medicine is responsible for working with the Medical Director and Service Director of Medical Services in establishing medical practice and clinical guidance in addiction treatment programs, ensuring compliance and overseeing patient care and medical evaluation within Outpatient programs and SUD residential programs, that are consistent with good medical standards of practice in compliance with administrative rules and are consistent with the requirements of major contractors for behavioral health services including Medicaid, Oregon Health Plan, Medicare, state general fund and commercial insurance.
Location: This position is based out of LifeWorks NW's King and Project Network locations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Advise the Medical Director and Clinical Service Directors in the development, implementation and periodic review of addiction psychiatry/medicine policies and procedures for the agency and within each service area.
- Work with the Medical Director to ensure compliance with addiction medicine oversight of MAT and addiction treatment services as required by CCO, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
- Develop and participate in implementation of MAT and integration of Addiction, Mental Health, and Primary Care policies and procedures.
- Provide training and consultation to SUD, MH, and Dual Diagnosis programs as needed.
- Review SUD levels of care practices based on ASAM, including outpatient and residential services.
- Develop, implement and provide staff training on policies and procedures for the SUD residential programs.
- Ensure compliance of SUD residential programs are following the policies and procedures, adhering to LifeWorks NW mission, and both state and federal regulations.
- Provide guidance for day-to-day operations of the SUD programs.
- Coordinate with other program staff and community agencies to address needed community services. Participate in interagency opportunities to facilitate positive working relationships between LifeWorks NW and other agencies.
- May lead the expansion and implementation of addiction treatment services in SUD residential programs
- Provide direct services to consumers as needed as part of programmatic needs- (does not carry a caseload)
- Review referrals to the program from internal and external sources.
- Works with the Medical Director on issues including but not limited to the integration of treatment services for substance use and mental health disorders.
- Researches and maintains state of the art knowledge on substance use disorders including but not limited to treatment and recovery-based services, overdose prevention, medication assisted therapy, women and women with children, engagement and implementation services.
- Work with the Medical Director and Service Director for Medical Services and serve as a liaison between medical staff and clinical services.
- Participate in Quality Management process.
Qualifications:
- MD, DO, or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) preferred
- Completion of an additional addiction psychiatry residency or addiction fellowship OR Board certified in Addiction Psychiatry by the ABPN or board certified in Addiction Medicine by the ABAM (preferred)
- Experience and Training required. Certification in Addiction Medicine preferred.
- Knowledge of ASAM criteria and practice and SAMSHA substance abuse disorder programs regulations, and principles.
- Ability to provide leadership and clinical guidance.
