The
HR Business Partner coaches and advises managers on human resource issues,
focusing on leave administration and labor relations. The HR Business Partner manages
employee leave programs and policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state,
and local laws and regulations, including OFLA, FMLA, PLO, worker's
compensation, and employee accommodations. They partner with the VP of Human
Resources to oversee labor relations concerning the collective bargaining process
and agreements. The HR Business Partner leads and guides employee and labor
relations programs, policies, and procedures, interpreting and enforcing human
resource policies and collective bargaining agreements. The HR Business Partner
balances responsibilities as an employee advocate and management representative
to resolve problems, conflicts, and policy disputes. The HR Business Partner
also represents HR on the Safety Committee.
As a strategic advisor to executives,
managers, and employees, the HR Business Partner is crucial in aligning the human
resources strategy with business goals while ensuring compliance with federal,
state, and local laws, regulations, and labor relations.
Location: This position is based out of our LifeWorks NW's Sylvan site.
Pay/Benefits: $79,296 starting salary plus, Full benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leave Administration: Prepare, track, and manage employee-protected leaves and
leave records. Process intake of leave requests, send required notices, forms,
and letters, and determine employee eligibility. Process leaves in the HRIS
system.
- Employee & Labor Relations: Investigate and resolve management
and employee concerns, conflicts, and disciplinary issues. Oversee labor and
employee relations, including union negotiations, grievances, arbitration, and
mediation. Address legal issues in consultation with the VP of Human Resources.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to employment laws and regulations.
- Investigations: Oversee and conduct investigations and make recommendations
regarding employment action.
- Accommodation: Coordinate
with managers to evaluate the need for potential accommodation.
- Americans with
Disabilities Act: Partner with the VP of Human Resources to address issues
regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Management Training & Coaching: Develop
training and coaching programs on effective employee and labor relations and
conduct annual management and employee training.
- Performance Management: Partner with the executive and management teams to adhere
to the performance management process, oversee the writing of clear
expectations for employee progress and feedback, and develop individuals to
achieve optimal performance
- Policy Development: Partner with the VP of HR in the development,
implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, including
compliance with employment laws.
- Data Analysis: Utilize HR data to identify trends and inform
decision-making.
- HRIS & Data Management: Ensure accurate employee
data tracking and collaborate with Finance on benefits administration.
Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration,
Human/Social Services, or a related field or three plus years of human
resources experience in an HR business partner capacity.
- Experience working with FMLA/OFLA/PLO and worker's compensation
and benefits required.
- Experience in employee and labor relations, including assisting in
union negotiations, administering labor contracts, resolving grievances, and
supporting operational changes.
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certifications preferred.
- Experience in a not-for-profit, social service, and/or healthcare
environment preferred.
- Experience with personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Communication and culturally competent communication skills.
This position offers a hybrid working
environment. After the first 90 days, the employee may work remotely up to two days
per week, subject to approval per our Alternative Work Arrangement policy.
